I know i have said many times..i dont like country music..but today we lost a legend..somone i have admired for many things..he was a writer..an actor..even wrote a book for children..but above all..he sang..
..I just felt the need to post a song or two..For Waylon Jennings.. may he rest in peace.
MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN COWBOYS
written by Sharon Vaughn
performed by Waylon Jennings
I grew up a-dreamin' of bein' a cowboy
Lovin' the cowboy ways
Pursuin' the life of my high-ridin' heroes
I burned up my childhood days
learned all the rules of the modern-day drifter
Don't you hold onto nothin' too long
Just take what you need from the ladies
Then leave them the words of a sad country song
CHORUS:
My heroes have always been cowboys And they still are, it seems
Sadly in search of, but one step in back of
Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams
Verse 2:
Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery
From bein' alone too long
You could die from the cold in the arms of a nightmare
Knowin' well your best days are gone
Pickin' up hookers instead of my pen
I let the words of my years fade away
Old worn-out saddles, old worn-out memories
With no one and no place to stay

********************* IF I COULD ONLY FLY ********************
written and performed by Waylon Jennings.
This morning as i watched a bird
Just spread its wings and fly
It was then a thought came over me
And i wondered why can't i ?
Oh why,oh why can't i ?
Verse 2:
If i could only fly,you see
A lot of problems would be gone
When you think of just how much
I'd save on shoes alone
If i could only fly
Verse 3:
I would never tear my clothes
Climbing in and out of trees
If i could only fly,i'd never crawl
Or wear holes in my knees
Verse 4:
How i'd love to spread my wings
And streak across the sky
I'd be off to see the world
If i could only fly
But i'd always come right back

Wouldnt be complete without this one....
Good Ol' Boys (Dukes of Hazard's theme)
Words & music by Waylon Jennings
Just the good ol'boys
Never meanin' no harm
Beats all you ever saw
Been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born.
Straigh'nin' the curve
Flat'nin' the hills
Someday the mountains might get 'em
But the law never will
Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow
I'm a good ol' boy
You know my momma loves me
But she don't understand
They keep a showin' my hands
And not my face on TV
Hah hah
k..i'll stop now..
